We’re Not Leaving, We’re Reloadng

While Sarah’s decision to not run in 2012 is disappointing, we of the Posse fully understand and support her decision. Our belief in Sarah remains steadfast, and we are looking forward to supporting her in all her future endeavors.

A big one coming up is Grizzly Fest, an online conference featuring many of Sarah’s most fervent supporters such as Tammy Bruce, Jedediah Bila and Stephen K. Bannon. The event takes place this Saturday, October 29th 2011, and is scheduled to run from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM EDT. Who knows? Perhaps a surprise guest will stop by…

As to Sarah herself, her recent speaking appearances have drawn large and enthusiastic crowds, thereby dismissing all notions of her star fading following her decision to not run. We the Palinistas are not swayed by the fickle wind of pop politics or calls for artificial unity by those who have in the past viciously derided both us and Sarah. While we will dutifully support the eventual GOP nominee, we will also hold fast to our belief in Sarah and that she is the sole rightful heir to Ronald Reagan’s legacy.

No, we’re not leaving. We’re reloading and refocusing.

We’ll Get To A Summary Of Recent Sarah Palin News In A Moment…

… but first this observation:

How convenient that Palinophobia sufferer Ace should go on vacation (from what?) starting this past weekend… just in time for the Washington Post to release its pathetic hit job on Ace’s man-crush Rick Perry.

Ah, but not to fear! Ace’s ace team of guest bloggers will be all over it…

… oh, wait, that’s right…

… they haven’t said a word about it.

How typical.

Now, Where Were We…

Sorry about the lengthy silence; got caught up with other projects. Anyway, let’s take a look back at the week that was:

The Joe McGinniss self-immolation tour came to an inglorious end when Andrew Breitbart unearthed damning e-mails, one from McGinniss and one to, proving that not only did McGinniss have no genuine facts for anything in his book, his own publisher warned him that this was the case. Nevertheless, the book’s publisher insisted the book was properly sourced. Further reaction here and here.

In the “friendly” fire department, the Daily Caller struck twice, first by running an unedited clip plus transcript of Mike Tyson being… well, Mike Tyson, and then before the dust had even started to settle on that fight running an ostensibly neutral story about Washington Post writer Jennifer Rubin in which she stated supporters of Palin are teh stoopid.

The fast-tracking of Rick Perry to the GOP nomination tumbled off the rails this past week. First, he was atrocious in the candidate’s debate held in Florida, then lost big time to Herman Cain in the Florida straw poll. Ouch. Of course it’s still very early, but the massive hype that came with his candidacy now looks even more foolish than before.

A low-level Hollywood punk talked trash to Bristol Palin about her mother the other day. Bristol calmly talked him down to an even more gibbering sad sack than before.

Although Sarah’s well-known aversion to polls remains steadfast, the one earlier this week that showed her within five points of Obama among independent voters was telling given how one of the stock answers used by “conservative” Palin naysayers is her unelectability.

Sarah appeared on Hannity this past week, first talking about the rhetoric of class warfare:

And then on whether she will run (she didn’t say):

However, SarahPAC sent out a donation solicitation letter this week saying Sarah is very close to making her decision.

And that was the week that was. Whew!

No, Sarah Didn’t Announce Today

There was a rampant rumor that Sarah would make her announcement about 2012 today on the Bob & Tom show. Bob & Tom are a couple of shock jocks (no, didn’t know any still existed either) in Anchorage who despite the crude nature of their act are solid conservatives with whom Sarah has often appeared. On the radio, that is.

No, she didn’t appear on the show today, so the wait continues. However, there was this one genuinely funny bit played during the show that’s worth a listen:

Why, No, There Is No Painting All Perry Supporters With The Same Brush Here

Someone made the comment after the last post that an impression was being given that on this site all Perry supporters are viewed with a decidedly caustic eye. Which is untrue. An explanation, if you please.

Most Perry supporters are genuine and sincere. Also, it’s not like there is any great dislike for Perry. Not a primary (no pun intended) choice, but should he win the nomination support from this site will be full-voiced. Period.

The question is whether Perry supporters can say the same of Palin should she enter the race and win the nomination.

Given the amount of sheer hatred being aimed at her by more than a few of his more fervent fans, it’s doubtful.

Palin Derangement Syndrome – On The Right

Earlier today, in a post Stacy McCain made this observation:

Why are Perry’s defenders so doggone defensive?

It’s a good question. A possible answer:

Palinophobia.

Examples? Sure. Ace’s raw hatred of Sarah was mentioned last week. It continued unabated today, tweet after tweet vomiting his irrational rants against her, focusing on accusing her of the same kind of crony capitalism she had charged Perry with after last night’s debate. Michelle Malkin did a thorough job of debunking his line of “reason,” yet he ranted on. And on, and on and on. Pathetic.

Ace isn’t alone, of course. Erick Erickson, puppethead leader of RedState, felt compelled last month when there was confusion over whether Sarah would be speaking at an Iowa tea party gathering to retweet a snarky comment by his fellow Perrywinkle Joshua Trevino, who proceeded to throw a temper tantrum and wrap himself in false piety when called out by Lisa Graas over the tweet’s decidedly offensive tone for Catholics.

One has to wonder why these prattling little children become so hysterical over the mere mention of Sarah’s name. What inadequacy are they attempting to hide? What is the real source of their anger which they vent at someone who consistently espouses the same conservative principals they claim to uphold? Only they know. And frankly, they’re not worth the effort of investigating to reveal the root cause of their paranoia.

A Few Thoughts on Tonight’s Debate

About the best thing that can be said about tonight’s GOP debate is it was better than the last one, this being far more the result of the tea party’s involvement than anything CNN or Wolf Blitzer conjured. It served as a reminder of why Sarah is easily the smartest person in the room… by not being in the room. Nothing is genuinely gained in these pseudo-debates. Nothing at all.

They are pseudo-debates because of the profound lack of substance manufactured by the format. Nothing is discussed at length. Everything is engineered for the “gotcha” sound byte. Red meat for political junkies, but of little if any interest or use to the populace at large. Pseudo-debates ought to be held in Oakland, moderated by the specter of Gertrude Stein. There’s no there there.

There are those who complain that by not being in the debates Sarah is somehow sloughing off and taking the easy path to running for President, if in fact she does run. Funny, one never hears that about Rick Perry blowing off Iowa and its straw poll. However, it must be kept in mind he is Teh Chosen Won, thus is immune to criticism. But of course.

One point that did come out of the debate, namely Michele Bachmann’s full throttle attack on Perry over his executive mandate for Gardasil vaccinations for girls, has created a massive firestorm on the right with people firing at each other at will, saving a few rounds for Will should he decide to jump into the fray. Perry admits the mandate was a mistake, but is being hammered for it nonetheless. Personally, his all over the map stance on illegal immigration is far more of a concern, but let’s set that aside for a bit and focus on the immunization controversy.

Something that seems to be almost universally overlooked is that it’s not solely amateur and/or agenda-driven members of the healthcare community who have raised a caution flag about a possible connection between some vaccines and autism. Parents have a right to be concerned about such things. Bachmann is a parent and then some, with five children of her own, three of whom are girls, and a slew of foster kids who have lived with her and her family for various periods of time. While it’s easy to say her going on the offensive against Perry on this issue is mere politics, it’s clear there’s more than a touch of the mama grizzly in the representative from Minnesota. When viewed in this light, is it that big of a deal whether she went over the top? No. It’s a minor issue politically and a much deeper issue for a parent. Which is as it should be.

Unless Sarah has entered the race by then, expect the next debate, being held on the 22nd, to be more of the same in the “not genuinely interesting” department. There will be one difference: given how the debate will be held in Orlando, expect the Disney character jokes to be flying fast and furious. And everyone to be furious with everyone else on Twitter afterwards.
