On This Day…

… Sarah has given us a beautiful commentary on 9/11. From her Facebook page:

Ten years ago today, ordinary Americans went to work or boarded a plane and found themselves fighting on the frontlines of a battle they did not choose. They acquitted themselves with grace and courage, just as the thousands of men and women who enlisted to fight in our armed forces—many on the anniversaries of this day—in order to exact justice for their fellow Americans. We will never forget those who died ten years ago today, we will never forget those who died in the war that started on that day, and we ask God to comfort and bless their families. From across this great nation, grateful Americans honor those who defend our homeland. God bless America.

Some Thoughts on “The Undefeated”

This afternoon, given a profound disinterest in any of the college football games being broadcast yours truly broke down and broke out the wallet to buy the pay-per-view of The Undefeated. Some observations:

Cinematically, the film is excellent. You don’t feel like you’re being force-fed a documentary, or even despite the pro-Sarah direction a piece of propaganda. Instead, while if you’ve read Going Rogue all elements will be familiar, the movie allows Sarah’s story to unfold in an almost unobtrusive way.

It’s not a film strictly for insiders. There are no inside jokes, so to speak. A complete novice, or someone with only cursory knowledge of Sarah’s life and political career, will come away from the movie with a solid overall knowledge set about her.

The movie beautifully highlights her accomplishments as Alaska’s governor, digging deep into both what she was up against in challenging the good ol’ boys club and a run of achievements in two years most governors couldn’t pull off in two decades.

The film wastes no time with lightweights in its numerous interview sections, instead bringing on the heavy hitters for the sections focusing on Sarah’s appearance on the national stage. Tammy Bruce, Mark Levin and Andrew Breitbart speak with authority.

The film’s final segment is fascinating in that it consists solely of Levin and Breitbart talking, intermixed with segments of a speech Sarah gave at a tea party event. Levin has the majority of on-screen time, talking about the Reagan Revolution which he was a part of (he worked in the Reagan administration) and inferring without flat-out saying that Sarah is the heir apparent of Reagan’s legacy. Breitbart continues the thought, talking about the entrenched political class on both sides of the aisle and how Sarah is the natural leader against such paralyzing, business as usual crony capitalistic forces. Given the unimpeachable track record of both — Levin’s book Liberty and Tyranny is mandatory reading for all conservatives and has sold more than one million copies, while Breitbart has single-handedly built a new media empire that has forced traditional media into submission more than once — it is wise to heed their words.

In summary, The Undefeated is a must-see movie, one that Sarah’s supporters should show her detractors both liberal and conservative. It has the power to educate the unaware and inspire those already attuned to her. Stephen Bannon has done the world a favor by putting the film together, and we are deeply in his debt.

What, You Mean There Are Issues In This Campaign?

We’ve spent enough time on losers the past two days. Let’s bring in something actually worth reading. From the Conservative Commune blog, an excerpt from a post analyzing the policy positions — or lack thereof — of Rick Perry:

Rick Perry believes the best way for the federal government to improve healthcare is to stimulate job creation so more Americans are covered by employer-sponsored health plans. Creating jobs will also reduce the strain on public safety net programs like Medicaid, saving taxpayer dollars.

So if everyone has a job, every employer can afford the skyrocketing cost of healthcare coverage for their employees? Ohhkay then.

If elected, Perry will repeal Obamacare – a misguided, unconstitutional and unsustainable government takeover of our health care that will undermine patient quality, increase red tape and send costs skyrocketing for taxpayers, patients and healthcare providers.

He certainly has this right. But to simply repeal Obamacare isn’t enough. There needs to be a workable plan to provide proper healthcare without driving anyone out of business. Where is Perry’s?

Okay, so I’m being a bit tough on Perry, and I should do the same questioning of all the candidates’ policy positions or lack thereof. However, Perry has been anointed the frontrunner and by more than a few pundits on the right (*coughredstatecoughacecough*) the sole acceptable candidate and above reproach. No, no he’s not.

Right now Perry is enjoying a honeymoon as the tough-talkin’ hombre riding into town and getting ready to clean house. However, eventually he’s going to have to start laying out plans and answering questions. November 2012 is still far away. Does Perry have the staying power to win the GOP nomination and defeat Barack Obama in the general election? Those huddled behind their laptops anointing him the chosen one do not make him so. Only the voters have that right. This campaign has barely begun.

The Unbearable Lightheadedness of Being Leon H. Wolf

Many years ago (at least to you young’uns whose idea of ancient history is when MTV played music videos), the late actor Richard Harris used to make the occasional record, ofttimes penning the songs himself. One such composition was titled “There Are Too Many Saviours On My Cross.” It was a poem with musical backing:

While Harris was talking about the then-raging conflict in Northern Ireland, the title stands as a stark reminder of how we have, and need, only one Savior. All others need not apply.

Including those who take it upon themselves to save us from ourselves.

One such individual, Leon H. Wolf, scribbled today in RedState (no link; they don’t deserve it) a self-identified epic philippic devoted to decrying Sarah Palin, with choice descriptions such as “ridiculous act” and “delusions-of-persecution laden statements” hurled against her for having the audacity to not yet have made an announcement as to whether she’s running for the Presidency in 2012. Why, the nerve of that woman! Doesn’t she know what the sacred polls say? Republicans don’t want her! They want… wait for it…

RICK PERRY!

You know, the guy who thumbed his nose at the Republican party in Iowa by announcing he was running at the… oh, where was that again…

… oh, wait, that’s right…

… the RedState gathering held a few weekends ago in South Carolina.

You know, the same gathering where nominal head of RedState Erick Erickson (the real rulers is Eagle Media, the site’s owner) viciously slandered Jamie Radtke, who’s running for a U.S. Senate seat in Virginia, while letting it slip his puppet masters at Eagle had let him know they were BFFs with Radtke’s primary opponent George Allen?

And we’re supposed to take anything posted in RedState seriously?

Sorry, but we’re not nearly that lightheaded.

We also don’t need the Leon H. Wolf’s of this world swooping in to save us from ourselves.

We do need Sarah Palin and fellow common-sense conservatives to reject the self-appointed attempting to tell us what to think via their slander against Sarah.

Wolf makes it all the more apparent how great is that need.

Some More Ridiculously Good Goodness From The Fine Folk At HillBuzz

Kevin DuJan at HillBuzz has compiled an intriguing study of Sarah’s speech yesterday in New Hampshire, from it deducing ten reasons why he believes it indicates she will enter the 2012 Presidential race. Definitely read the whole thing; here are a couple of snippets:

The Governor is a shrewd, creative, and fun-loving woman who knows how to drive the media bonkers and make the Cocktail Party permanent political class positively apoplectic.

Have you noticed — she’s not interfering in the slightest with any of the other GOP candidates.

Why not, when it would be so much fun?

This is because Governor Palin knows these are her opponents.  She is an undeclared candidate right now because the moment she officially declares, this race will be all about her and the other people running will not be vetted or examined because the media will just want to engage in relentless and unending attacks on Sarah Palin.

Governor Palin has until the end of October, in fact, to be able register for the primaries and caucuses she needs to secure the Republican nomination. I believe the deadline for registering for the South Carolina primary is November 11th at 5pm, and it’s just a $35,000 entrance fee to do that (no signatures required).  I find it absurd that anyone would insist with a straight face that Governor Palin’s supporters could not obtain even 50,000 signatures in as little time as a week if that’s what they had to do to get the Governor on the ballot in a state.

So, this “She needs to declare now, in a hurry, because we say so!” is garbage, and not the sort of bait a practiced outdoorswoman like Palin would ever take.

Sarah Tells It Like It Is

The ridiculously good gang at the HillBuzz blog have posted a transcript of Sarah’s speech today at a tea part event in New Hampshire. An except:

We need to talk about media-incited internal squabbles that we can nip in the bud, right here and right now — because we’ve got a lot of work to do, Constitutionalists. Our challenges today are too great.  We simply don’t have time to be bogged down in internal conflicts and friendly-fire conflagrations. The time to secure our future and preserve our blessings of liberty and RESTORE our economy is now.

The Tea Party Movement is bigger than any one person, and it’s not about any ONE candidate — and thank goodness we don’t have any ONE single leader. The Movement is about bringing together debate and discussion of solutions from We the People — not the politicos, not those inside the beltway types that are part of that PERMANENT POLITICAL CLASS that have fought the Tea Party Movement.  As was said in the introduction, this is about every day, hard-working, individual Americans and empowering the individual.

This is what the Founders intended for this country. It is you who run our factories and own our small businesses, who teach our children, who fight our wars — it is you who build our communities with A SERVANT’S HEART — that is WE THE PEOPLE, that is OUR COUNTRY, that is AMERICA!

Sarah’s Running!

Made you look. ;-)

Actually, Sarah is running… well, technically, has run. She entered a half-marathon today in Iowa, registering under her maiden name and managing to remain incognito throughout the event. She finished second in her age group with a time of 1:46:10.

Not bad!

As to whether she’s running for President, stay tuned!

With Authority And Power

Sarah Palin gave a terrific speech today at a tea party rally in Iowa. Despite the event’s disorganized nature prior to it taking place, Palin power rose to the fore as thousands ignored the rain that fell earlier in the morning to hear Palin speak with authority and power.

There was apparently some problem with the audio of the speech’s broadcast on television and radio, as many Perrywinkles complained bitterly afterwards about the speech lacking substance and specifics. This is the only explanation for how they missed her declaration of making the U.S. not just an, but the most, attractive country in the world for businesses by eliminating all federal corporate income taxes, balancing the loss of revenue by eliminating corporate welfare, bailouts and tax loopholes. For the benefit of those who suffered audio dropouts, suffice it to say Palin pulverized the liberal mindset.

Palin gave no indication as to whether she will run for President next year, but the signs certainly point that way. Here’s hoping!

Is Today The Day? Probably Not, But It’ll Be A Good Day Anyway

Today, Sarah Palin will be making what is shaping up to be a major policy speech at a tea party gathering in Iowa. It has been speculated this will be when she announces whether she will run for President. While this most likely won’t happen, she is expected to lay down a stirring defense of tea party fundamentals, such as limited government and an end to crony deals such as those entered into… oh, you know… Rick Perry.

More after the speech.
